Journey from Salt Lake City to Jackson Hole

Hello! A few weeks ago I went on one of my most favorite trips yet, to the mountains of Wyoming. I will post my experiences here, along with photos and notes from the journal entries I wrote while on my journey (entries are in italics, and while they aren't my best writing, they are my honest impressions and thoughts!).

Here was our view of flying over snow-capped mountains into Salt Lake City!

As soon as I walked outside in Utah, a land 2 hours behind the time at my home, all I could see were hazy mountains and feel the dryness in the air. After we got our rental car (a minivan that somehow survived the 10 days we had her), we drove into Salt Lake City to see it a bit before we left.

We got our car (minivan from California!), and drove into Salt Lake City. The sky and mountains were a strange hazy-white, and there were many old, grand buildings downtown.

We then walked to the Mormon Temple. It was secluded behind other buildings, with a lovely garden winding up to it. It was peaceful and well taken care of, and [Salt Lake City] is a nice city in general.

I had not known this temple was in Salt Lake City, nor did I know about the city's history until stopping here, but this building was quite magnificent! It is open to the public for free, and attracts many tourists (including ourselves) because of its grandeur.

One of my favorite travel outfits now - a breezy and comfy jumpsuit.

Then we started the journey from Utah through Idaho to Wyoming! This is said to be one of the prettiest drives, and the landscape was constantly changing from barren hills to scraggly cliffs to plains full of cows.

Many places reminded me of Moria or Mordor or Rohan, and even the Shire for a moment.

The rock here was incredible!

The road leading to more ever-shifting landscape.

We've just seen pretty barren mountains so far, with jagged rock and the prettiest blue rivers, bubbling creeks, and crustal lakes. There is not much civilization, yet there are quite a few small towns and huge houses on the hills. But there are still quaint homesteads and ranches, dotted with dilapidated wooden houses left over from times long past.

And we saw a badger!! (and a skunk, but that's not as cool) It was running across the road in the middle of nowhere, and I thought at first that it was a cat, raccoon, hedgehog, even an armadillo, before realizing it was indeed a badger when it looked and hissed at us. Unfortunately we couldn't stop [to take pictures] because someone was behind us, but it was still cool to see my Hogwarts house mascot!

Now there is a beautiful sunset, the sky pink and the sun a hazy, glittering orange. It reflected in the little lake perfectly for a few moments, as we now make our way to Jackson!

As we drove further into the valley, I listened to Scottish music and Enya. <3

That is all for the first day of this adventure!

I wish you light and happiness wherever your own journeys take you xx
