Hello! Welcome to my new blog!
Throughout the last 6 years I've made a handful of personal blogs, all of which were fun at the time, but inevitability flopped.
I think one of the big reasons for this is that I wasn't writing and posting what was true to my heart -- instead I tried to be who I thought would appeal to others. Looking back at those posts I can see I was trying SO hard to fit in, when I now realize I really don't want to.
Currently I feel much more confident about who I truly am and who I wish to become, so I thought it good to finally delve into blogging again, to share my travels, photography, writings, and thoughts.
So I revamped an old blog of mine with an already gorgeous theme, and here we are!
My name is Claire and I adore nature, mythology, books full of magic, and hobbits.
I am a photographer, writer, reader, and artist (sometimes).
I am a dancer and figure skater (that makes me sound cooler than I am).
I love vintage clothing and Celtic music and mountains.
I can't choose a favorite season because I love spring blooms and summer sunsets and crisp autumn colors and winter snowfalls all too dearly.
And I love Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel!
(As well as Sherlock, Downton Abbey, and Victoria but they didn't make the main list)
My one big dream right now is to travel to the UK and Ireland! I have so many lists of places I want to visit and experience.
But I'm also one big mess generally, and I'm quickly realizing how awkward it is to talk about myself . . . I really shouldn't be allowed to have so much space to write, otherwise I am going to ramble on forever!
Also! My instagram is @starsofvellichor, which is still my main social media right now. I also post on my youtube sometimes and here's my goodreads. I have my Pinterest on the side bar, but mostly I use it for my novel wip moodboards (which we shouldn't talk about because even though I've been writing bits and pieces since November, I still don't quite know what the plot is . . .).
When I think about it, my username/blog name doesn't make much sense, but here's a sort of breakdown:
Vellichor
n. "the strange wistfulness of used bookstores, which are somehow infused with the passage of time—filled with thousands of old books you’ll never have time to read, each of which is itself locked in its own era, bound and dated and papered over like an old room the author abandoned years ago, a hidden annex littered with thoughts left just as they were on the day they were captured."
Isn't that just the most wonderful word? "Stars of" just sounds pretty (and I like the stars) so I added that in front -- and regardless if it makes any sense, I thought it looked nice (even if I don't really know if I'm saying 'vellichor' right lol).
I'm not sure how much I will be able to post, but I will try my very hardest to keep up. :)
